2013 Help for Heroes Classic Car Run - 28th April 2013

Organised by Ray and Barbara Guiver as a fund raiser for Help for Heroes, the day started at Haselbury Mill, near Crewkerne, where entries parked on the grass next to the picturesque mill pond and buildings.

After a welcome breakfast and the collection of a very comprehensive road book and visitor guides for the various locations we would be passing on the ninety mile route.

Cars were flagged off by the 'Face of Somerset' and we headed south for the first leg down to the coast near to Abbotsbury, where crews could visit either the Swannery and/or gardens. This was followed by the steep climb to the high point above Chesil Beach, where sea mist spoilt the still fantastic view towards Portland.

Next was West Bay and Bridport, now famous due to the recent TV drama, and then along the Jurassic Coast to Lyme Regis.

We then turned back north, and some took a coffee break at the 'River Cottage Canteen' in Axminster, before winding our way through Yeovil to the finish at the Haynes Motor Museum, which we had to share with the cars running in in the MSA Spring Classic.

Here a wide range of raffle prizes were presented, courtesy of the events sponsors, which included Hagerty Insurance, Helmet City, Marque 21, Adrian Flux, GEM Motoring Assist and RockAuto.com.

An excellent run, which raised £845 for Help for Heroes.
